Randy Guy is a lifetime resident of St. Mary's County who served for 26 years in the United States Air Force. Randy served in the Viet Nam War and earned three Air Medals.
Randy retired from the Air Force in 1994 as a Senior Master Sergeant (E-8), last duty was as Enlisted Crew Manager at the Air Staff, Pentagon with responsibility for managing, training and recruitment of 13,000 enlisted aircrew members.
Randy Guy founded his own small business upon retirement, opening the Southern Maryland Pools and Spas located first in California, Md. and then in Hollywood, Md. In opening his business and then buying his own land for his operation, he experienced what so many other business owners do, the nightmares of dealing with county land use and permits requirements which often make it easy for large national chains with unlimited resources but tough for small business with meager funds to jump through the hoops of government which knows no bounds for regulations.
Randy's business included a retail store in Hollywood which he downsized to operating only service for pools at this time in response to the economy slowing.
Guy graduated from St Michael's High School in Ridge and earned an Associates Degree from the Community College of the Air Force in Transportation and Traffic Management (Logistics)
A member of St. Mary's County Board of Appeals, Randy was elected to Democratic Central Committee in 1998 thru 2002. A conservative, Randy found that the local Democratic party, as shown by the performance of the Democrats on the current and former Boards of Commissioners, have become so far out of touch with the average citizen that they have shown no restraint on raising taxes or controlling spending. Becoming a Republican is only a change in affiliation, not in political philosophy for Guy. He remains a conservative.
Randy Guy is a Past Commander of American Legion Post 221, Avenue, MD, Dept. of Maryland Executive Committee, and Southern Maryland Youth Camp Board of Directors. Presently active Color Guard member, ROTC Chairman, Boys State Chairman. Life member VFW Post 2632. Law Officer/Hero of the Year Chairman for Voiture
