Morris asked that the General Assembly turn down a request for added bond authority for the lame duck commissioners and specifically that the $13 million library for Leonardtown be cancelled due to the financial crisis in Maryland and cuts being made to counties by the state. Morris said that the cost of the library endangered the county being able pay for the addition to the jail, renovations to schools and salaries for teachers and cops.

Dan Morris is a Marine Veteran of the Viet Nam War and he and his wife Linda have two sons.
Morris is a retired Prince George's County Police detective, is retired from the post of investigator after having been hired by States Attorney Walter B. Dorsey and serving under States Attorney Richard Fritz.
Morris is an active member of the Mechanicsville Moose Lodge and the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club, both of which are active in serving the community. Dan Morris is an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mechanicsville and the Knights of Columbus.
Morris was a top contender for the Democratic nomination for Sheriff of St. Mary's County in 2002 and managed the successful campaign of Republican Sheriff Tim Cameron in 2006.
Dan Morris serves on the St. Mary's Sheriff's Retirement Board and has been active in youth sports leagues.
As a conservative Democrat, Morris, like many others regrets that the left wing has dominated that party and fails to consider the working person in leading the county, state and nation to the brink of disaster.
Morris is happy to become a member of the Republican Party and breath new life into the Grand Old Party and invites Democrats and Independents to join him or join the Town Hall Alliance in November of 2010 and vote for the Town Hall slate.
Like others in the Town Hall Alliance, Morris is committed to bringing common sense and fair play to county government.
